The Circuit

We welcome everyone to the website
to find out
some more about the work
of the Methodists in Scilly and
hopefully we can welcome you to one
of our activities or worship services.

Methodism probably began on the
Isles of Scilly with the arrival of John
Wesley in 1743. It has been the
predominant non-conformist church
on the islands since then. We now
consider we are privileged to live in a wonderful part of the world but
Wesley thought they were a "barren,
dreary place".

Now you are the body of Christ, and each one of you is part of it.

1 Corinthians 12:27

Our two churches continue to flourish with a good programme of activities as you will see on the respective pages. The water between our churches does limit our joint activites because of time and cost (plus the occasional Atlantic storm!).

Annually we have a Circuit Day whose destination rotates around the five inhabited islands (see pictures of 2008 on the photography pages) and we have an Annual Lifeboat service on St. Mary's (2008 shown below).
